If the performance of the original motor when it had good compression was acceptable ,then go for the change over.An commodore v6 swap will set you back at least $6k and youll have to put up with 6 months fine tuning if your dedicated.
Putting the reconditioned original motor back wont harm your resale value.Cars with engine swaps tend to turn most buyers off unless it is real cheap.
