92 4Runner 3.8l conversion

Hi guys,
I've got a '92 4Runner 3.0 V6 with a little over 200,000 Kms and the compression is shot, though the body is in quite good condition. As I'm not sure whether it's the top end or bottom end, I'm trying to decide whether to get a change-over engine (RPM Engines quoted over $4,500 PLUS PARTS as required) or to get a Holden 3.8l conversion.
I Know Marks 4X4 Adapters have kits available and have a good reputation, but I'm seeking advice on which course of action to take.
Has anyone had the conversion? What are your thoughts? Is it worth it or just trade it in for another?

If the performance of the original motor when it had good compression was acceptable ,then go for the change over.An commodore v6 swap will set you back at least $6k and youll have to put up with 6 months fine tuning if your dedicated.
Putting the reconditioned original motor back wont harm your resale value.Cars with engine swaps tend to turn most buyers off unless it is real cheap.
