61 series sahara seat replacement

Submitted: Sunday, Jan 04, 2004 at 13:39

Lyndon

Hi everyone

I've got a Toyota 61 series sahara TD, which is all good, except for the front seats, they look fine and are in excellent condition, but for me I cant really sit in them for any length of time. Has anybody found a good seat (secondhand / aftermarket) that suits 60 series cruisers?

Cheers Lyndon

Lyndon, I'm surprised you found the seats uncomfortable as I thought they were great except they don't hold you in the seat all that well when travelling over rough country. We had good sheepskin seat covers that may of helped.
Other people I know had fitted recaro or similar seats to stop them moving about. With an standard adaptor. They could be fitted quite easily.Dare to Lead not to Follow

Have a look at the padding underneath your chair .It might just need a trip to the upholsterer.I had some prices on my 73 series(same seats as yours) and the cost was quite affordable.About $140 ea if I remember correctly which included new sections to cover the wear on the base. There is aftermarket ones available starting at $350 up to $850 ea.
Its often been asked if there are straight bolt in replacements for L/C but Ive never seen a satisfactory reply.

Good point Ross, because it is the lack of bum support that is causing me grief. I'll look into it, thanks

Mine came with Recaros and I did Gold Coast to Yepoon (700km) in one hop without a complaint from my dodgy back. Managed to stay in them getting sideways at five rocks too. Wife whinged though.
