Dtronic / Nissan Warranty 3L Patrol

Submitted: Sunday, Jan 04, 2004 at 19:41

smod

Does anybody know if Nissans diagnostic equipment can detect if a dtronic has been connected at any stage as I'm considering taking out extended warranty and also looking at a dtronic. If it's as easy as unplugging the unit if a warranty claim is to be made then that would seem to take care of the problem?

it takes 5 mins to install or remove the dtronic, only 2 10mm bolts that hold the harness in.

Don't some vehicles have some sort of data logger that can be accessed by the dealer's workshop? If so it might sense that the ECU has been disconnected??? Just guessing.

In a word, YES!

The unit is addressable from the console port.

Not that it will matter anyway with a Nissan warranty, bosses 3.0l going back in again (4th time) in as many weeks, almost died on him again today while cruising at 100km/h on the highway, engine light came on again, they still can't fix it or the other 3.0l in their workshop with the same problem.
