Camping near Canberra

Hi Everybody,

Thankyou to everybody who responded to our request for a camping area near Hillston. Billabourie what a fantastic spot great way to finish our 3 week trip.

Now the next question. Going to Canberra in June, our son (30) has been stricken down with a work accident since December and would like to go camping, proberly not the right time of year but he needs to go out of Canberra, Nathan's request.

We would appreciate any responces in a request for ideas for camping around Canberra (North) about 1/2 - 3/4 hrs drive must be able to have a campfire and prefer 240 volt. Would be greatful for any ideas.

Burrinjuck State Park may fit the bill. A bit South of Canberra down the Hume Hwy. 240 volt available. Campfires OK. Limited shop on site. Def worth a look. Thumbs UpThanks 0

Unfortunately, the best camping near Canberra is closed at the moment due to the construction of the Cotter Dam. North of Canberra there is Collector, Gunning, Yass, Murrumbateman, Rydges Eagle Hawk - all have accommodation, but not sure about camping. Queanbeyan has a caravan park with camping - not bad either - but it is right in town and unlikely to allow a fire.

Further afield - an easy hour drive towards the coast - there is Braidwood, which has some great camping spots in the district. Best to call the visitors information centre there for details.

It will be very cold at night - prepare for minus temperatures.

Some great camping in tNamadgi National Park which is only about 40 minutes drive from Canberra. Also worth checking out Blue Range Hut area - also about 40 minutes from town.
