Unfortunately, the best camping near
Canberra is closed at the moment due to the construction of the Cotter Dam. North of
Canberra there is Collector,
Gunning, Yass, Murrumbateman, Rydges Eagle Hawk - all have accommodation, but not sure about camping. Queanbeyan has a caravan park with camping - not bad either - but it is right in town and unlikely to allow a fire.
Further afield - an easy hour drive towards the coast - there is Braidwood, which has some great camping spots in the district. Best to call the visitors information centre there for details.
It will be very cold at night - prepare for minus temperatures.
