There have been at least 20 running around the place for the last few months - also have had fleet days. Mainly out in the Pilbara
and through central NT though I understand a couple went for a run into FNQ (and rumour is that 1 got very very wet on the inside doing a creek crossing
). I also believe there is a cover or something similar to try and do something with the alternator. There has also been a fair bit of work done on "mine packs" to try and sort out the chassis and corrosion problems with the engine and running gear. The problem is that when they stuff up the mine sites don't really care as they just ditch them and get new ones. There are Sth African 1HZs arriving but they are not licenced and are destroyed after their mine work finishes.
There is another problem arising in that some mine sites are requiring 5 star safety ratings on the vehicles on their sites - once this is adopted then we may see a whole lot of different vehicles being used.
When/if the 70 dualcab arrives and when/if they become available don't expect too much change out of $80,000.00 for you and me.
