Hi John
we enjoyed a night there last year on sensis night (yep we didn't escape them there)
The 'lake' is a dam not far off the hwy on private property. You go through a closed gate to access plenty of spots beside the water.
You need to be totally self sufficient .... the water could be used for showers, but wouldn't recommend it for drinking, unless you boil it, as the dam is the paddocks cattle drinking water. (Having said that, I grew up on a cattle property drinking water under similar conditions with out boiling & was rarely sick) The cattle are very 'quiet' animals (friendly) & are used to having folks like us hanging around.

You can hear the road traffic from your camp spot, unless you go much further back away from the water which may be quieter. We didn't find the traffic a bother & it quietens down after 9pm most nights in remote areas any way.

In August last yr, there was plenty of water in the 'lake'. I can't say what the water level is like atm, but as they are now just over the wet season, one would assume that the dam was full.

So long as we all take all our rubbish away with us, private properties like this one will continue to be generous in allowing us travelers to enjoy their space.

hope this helps
Sue
