Who here loves a good Aussie Adventure?

I do and in July/August I will be making one of the greatest adventures of all time. HAST is the Happy Alps Snowshoe Trek. A solo female trek of approximately 700km across the Australian Alps from Tharwa in the ACT to Walhalla in Victoria through Namadgi, Kosciuszko, Alipine and Baw Baw National Parks.

I will be sharing this adventure with you all but I have some great news I must share with you all now, I'm too excited to keep it to myself. Australian Geographic Society have just offered to help share that Australian Spirit of Adventure!

This is one very happy walker :D

In the meantime, next week I fly out to Alice to start the Larapinta Trail on Saturday. Very Excited! Stay tuned for a blog when I return :)

Terra,
you can wear your snowshoes in on the Larapinta trail. Ha! HA.

Great news with the Aussie Geographic coming on board.

Smile, smile , smile.

Have a good walk and may your blisters be kind to you.

Thanks Rockape,
Snowshoes on the Larapinta Trail, now that's one way to get some attention!
Fingers crossed I've managed to break my new boots in well enough, no blisters this time.

Good for you terra, most people don't realise just how much you miss in a vehicle as compared to walking it.

A group of mates, we have walked for 20 + years together, and the AAWT (Walhalla to Tharwa) were some of our greatest trips.

Larapinta soon hey ??
Think about getting dropped (Glen Helen) out the west end of MT Zeil range and bagging that peak. 2 extra days, very tough 2 days though !! : )
Then the LT back to Alice.

Did that one a couple of years ago.

If you want any advice re that, just drop me a line back.

Happy and safe walking.

Thanks Les.

Sounds like a good challenge out to Mt Zeil. This trip will not be long enough but it will give me something to do when I return in 4 years and have some spare time.

Love your work and enthusiasm Terra. I have no idea why but I always thought you were a bloke : -) The snowy walk will be fantastic to follow - keep plenty of notes and take heaps of photos please. Is AG going to put a tracker on you so we can follow your progress?

Thanks Bazooka,
I will certainly take plenty of pics, even a bit of video too. I'll be sending out a sitrep each day I have sat contact and my lat/long will be updated regularly. It will be a very interesting challenge, especially the effect of cold and isolation going solo for weeks.
Closer to the start I'll put up the links for updates and maps.

G'Day Terra Mer,

Great to hear about your winter Australian Alps trek. Beautiful country up there. Live close by & do lots of walks on the Alps walking track. In fact I met the love of my life in the high country over 30 yrs ago with a backpack on.

Did 120 km of the Larapinta 2 years ago this Sept (with the love of my life) & loved it. Wildflowers at every turn & hopefully you get to see plenty too. Be sure to post up a photo at Counts Point. Absolutely stunning view from there.

Enjoy

Cheers

You can count on that Counts Point pic! Looking at the topo it will be one of the highlights.
I couldn't think of a better place to meet someone special than in the Alps. 30 years on and you're still walking together. Nice :)
Cheers
