I tend to agree with comments expressed John but nevertheless we go straight via Adelaide
because we treat it as a commuter leg and this is both the shortest fastest way and also the cheapest because we normaly fill up at Port Wakefield and usually with lower price fuel.
You don't go thru centre of Adelaide
but turn north at Glen Osmond going via M1 up to Marden ,via Hampstead rd and on to Port Wakefield Rd.
It is city driving for about 3/4 of an hour then your back onto highways.
Timing can help with this trip.
We usually leave Melbournes east 4am which puts you thru the Adelaide
section just after the lunch traffic and onto to PT Aug between 4-5pm.
