What did you think the average price is for a van site

Likewise we go to caravan parks occasionally for a decent shower (we have our own small bathroom) and to do the laundry, although we can tour long term without doing so.

I have also found caravan parks that only have unpowered tent sites with all caravan sites being powered. Some will give us a discount for not using power, but for others they charge a flat powered rate as they say they cannot monitor the honesty.
