Evans Head NSW

I will be visiting Evans Head NSW in the near future. Does any body know of good 4wd tracks in the local area? A day trip would be ideal.
Thanks
Alan

There is not a lot in the way of 4wding around Evans Head. Its surrounded by Nat Park that isn't open to the Public.

You CAN drive along Airforce beach , BUT , you need a permit , and they aren't readily available . . . Only so many sold , and all to the locals.

Another alternative is south to Iluka , again , you can drive on the beach. Not sure of Permits for that one.

"South to Iluka"

The beach south of Evans Head runs past the Airforce bombing range and used to be closed to the public when I was a regular there. That was a few years ago but don't think it's changed recently.

No permit required for driving on the beach north to South Ballina as of last weekend anyway. Definately only passable at low tide if you plan on driving the be entire length though.

as said a lot of nice national parks but you wont get much 4x4 driving in them.
as stated you can go in south of woodburn and do the run from black rock to iluka along the beach and also there is some 4x4 in the double duke and tabimobile state forrests in the same areas. going north you may be able to drive to ballina along the beach but access is dependant on beach conditions. this is pretty much it in day trips

Some good driving to be had in the Yuraguir NP. Enter from Mclean to Broomes Hd Rd. Easy enough if dry, different if wet. Some god veiws to be had from a couple of the fire trails.

Enjoy !!!
