With a little over 2 weeks to Australia Day 2012, I present this to those who would wish for a change of flag for us. Please tell us why it needs to change? Not in my lifetime, please!!

Fantastic Fred, I've never thought of it in that way, I've always thought there should be a change but your right this flag is only Australian regardless what it has in the corner.I think you have converted me.

Noble sentiments indeed, Fred, but sadly, our political masters seem to be handing over these hard won ideals to the lowest bidder for the sake of International political correctness. And the main beneficiaries are those that choose to use our democracy, our good will and our freedoms against us. Justice, faith, hope, charity and truth. Yes, some of that would be nice. But, desp;ite that .. Happy Australia Day.

G'day Jack. Not noble sentiments at all mate, just the plain old hard facts. Is there anything in that message you have a problem with ? I don't.

I have no control over those who gain political power, who, for what ever gains, seek to plunder the riches, so proudly and unselfishly handed to us by so many men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice, in order that this nation continues to provide the best possible future for our children, and their childrens children. That was the belief of those who made that sacrifice.
If anyone has any desire to take these hopes and promises away from us, like those who have gone before, I say "Over my dead body, mate."

Hi Fred.
I totally agreed with everything you wrote there. I support the flag, and (I believe) like you have donned a uniform for the country and the flag. The ideals that we fought for are perhaps not as cherished nowadays as perhaps they might have been when we served. You are spot on, and I apologise if my response tended to make you think otherwise. Again, enjoy your Australia Day. I will certainly be enjoying mine. Best wishes.

G'day Fred,

Yes mate you are spot on. I've worn the uniform, my brother, my Dad too (RIP) and quite a few rellies who fought under that very flag lie in graves overseas. I doubt that anything you or I say will sway the minds of our pollies when they decide that the time has come to change the flag, but I hope I have gone to the big EO gathering for the last time when that happens. Best wishes for Australia Day mate.
Cheers

It's a powerful "Voice" John. It was distributed to the members of my in-take's Association by our secretary. I had never seen it before. It is so very relevant to Australia, in all aspects, right up to this very day. I have listened to it many times since I first heard it, and I dare say they won't be the last.
Enjoy your Australia Day also mate.
