Hi All

With just one week before jumping on a plane to Bamaga via Cairns to begin the walk, I wish to use this blog to thank the following people who have generously assisted in getting my support vehicle up to scratch for the 13 month trip. In no particular order:

Jim Best of Best OffRoad, for his amazing efforts in fitting one of his excellent Storage Systems to the back of the Jack as well as the amazing RV Powerstream Battery pack. I consider Jim & Jenny good friends after only knowing them a few weeks.

Jeff Hazzledene of SCS 4WD Centre, for his work on the electrics of the Jack. A whole day's work donated that will mean so much in the long run. A generous and good man.

Kristian, Tom and all the staff at Ironman Suspensions for providing a heavy duty upgrade for the Jack. A great gesture and much appreciated.

Engel for providing a fantastic fridge freezer. I can't describe the benefit of accessing an ice pack or cold drink in times of need over 6,000km.

Ian Martin of RV Powerstream for the great Battery pack. This was an amazing gesture .
Tony Whitehead of 4x4USA for fitting of our Coopers tires and his well intentioned efforts to spread word of the walk via the Jeep forum.

Coopers Tires for their assistance with purchasing new shoes for the Jack

Geoff Rankin of Rankins Diesel for the work on the engine. Not many welcome working on the diesel Jackaroos. Rankins aren't in love with them either but boy they do a good job! (sorry Geoff but there's more where mine came from!)

Danny Scalzi of Codan for the suplying of a HF Radio for the walk. Can't thank Codan enough for obvious reasons. V1818 will perform a vital function safety wise and my own welfare is far better guarranteed as a result. Thanks Codan.

I sincerely apologise to any one I may have missed. There are indeed other sponsors whose involvement is more linked to the actual bushwalking aspects of the event. I will thank them in other forums, literally!

The jack itself as well as the wonderful Tru Blu Camper trailer is arriving in Cairns care of Toll tomorrow morning!

I hope to post regular updates of the walk's progress along the way. Hopefully part of that news will include updates on our progress towards $1M for the Cancer Council.

Some of you may have noticed my smiling dial in today's Herald Sun here in Melbourne. Unfortunately the paper left out the most important info about how to donate and find out more about the walk! We'll fix this next time. By the way, I think I'm appearing on Ch 10, 9AM program this Monday 28th April. nerve wracking!

I invite all members and visitors to ExplorOz to check out our website www.thegreatcancerwalk.com.au Please feel free to tell others about what I'm doing. After all it's not about me at all. Rather it's about the money raised and what can be done with it that counts!
Cheers,
Michael Mitchell
