G'day Adventurers.

I have only very recently arrived back home in Newman after a round trip of 2464.4 Kilometres.

Like all my extended duration trips, highway 95 North is a down right dangerous place to travel and this trip was no exception as these images show.Amaizingly, I never left the boundaries of the big state of Western Australia in my four days away from the region of Iron.

The reason for the journey was for me a huge learing curve, I'd never have thought the subject of exploring the universe would be of interest to me in particular, but I was absolutely fasinated by what I saw and by what is actually now a reality and very tangible in the remote arid scrub country we call the Murchison.

I was given the task of driving a group of 12 people from Geraldton on WA's west coast into the middle of the Murchison district, my guests were all eminent people who's fields of expertise ranged well into the theory of the "Big Bang" and deep universe studies.

I was in the company of some of Australia's and the Worlds leading brains on this stuff, outer space and what if anything that might be out there theorists ~ you know the type, ordinarly folk, who know far to much to ever get a good nights sleep.

The Murchison Research Observatory, a CSIRO project has been quietly heading to completion and it should be a stand alone establishment in around two years time, it has in reality been going for close to ten years as world wide science project.

There will be a total of 36 antenna dotted through out a planned part of the Murchison, on Boolardy Station, the region was chosen because it is near perfectly quiet as far as radio interference is concerned.

The MRO may benifit mankind in many ways, just as the American and European Space programs have done previously, it is an exciting time simply because its happening right here in our back yard.

The biggest positive for this type of project is that the land stays where it is and does not get shipped off to China ~ the antenna are all made in China possibly from Pilbara Iron Ore.

Safe travels :
