Hairs & Fysh (NSW)

Back To Index
Well it's not long now till we head to St George QLD for the National Gathering. Can't wait. Fysh will be taking a fortnight holidays and we're taking the kids out of school for the last week of term. The eldest will miss out on a school trip to Sydney, But she's pretty cool about that. All three kids are really looking forward to it.
Everything is just about done in preparation for the trip. I must check and repack the wheel bearings on the camper. The Jayco has been checked and checked again for anything that may cause us trouble. click here to view our Jayco Swan
All that is left to do is decide what we are taking, as in clothes and the like, the lest the better, I reckon. Must take games and things to keep the kids amused, I guess there will be a lot of I Spy games on the way. :) Fysh would like us to take the kids bikes, we really don't have the room for them :(. We'll carry enough water to get to St George, probably two of those ten liter jobs from the supermarket. Can't see the point of carting over 200 liter of water up the range from Casino to Tenterfield. We bought ourselves a Two Zone temperature monitor for the fridge in the camper, just to keep an eye on it in case the gas gos out, another $45 well spent I reckon. I'm still amazed how little gas the two fridge uses. . We will only pack enough food for a couple of nights, we plain on stopping over night at Goondiwindi. It's only some740k's to St George from home, we'll be traveling with Mark G and his family and they will have their two daughters and young son of a few months,so I guess there will be a few stops on the way, anyway there is no rush to get there.
The Cruiser needs an oil + filter change next week and I believe that's about it for her. I'll check the fuel filter, diff oils and gear box oil. Just installed a Redarc Smart Start Dual Battery Isolator/Solenoid, with an Anderson Plug on the Rear bar, this will keep the twin Exrider xv31mf, 1000A(mca)/800A(cca) Batteries charged, We're pretty much able to be self reliant these days when it comes to power and water, for stays as long as a week. I would like to purchase a set of Air Bags for the rear, just make the old girl ride a bit better. but they aren't necessary to have right now,I would also like to get a Low Coolant Alarm from Engine Saver with the engine block temp sensor. I think that would be money well spent.
It will be interesting to see what fuel economy the old girl gets towing a 1270kg camper plus all our gear. I'm guessing about 5.5 to 6.5 km/L, so on the round trip(1300km) that would be about $360 worth of diesel, plus what ever tripping about we do at St George. That's a big difference from the 9.5 to 10 km/l I get cruising up the H/way now. Oh well, ya get that.

Anyway, Here's to hoping that the weather will be fine. Looking forward to meeting the people behind the names on EO. :)
I believe the Yowie has offered up his back to be waxed ( So Sir Kev informs me) for charity, Sorry to tell you all there's not much there to wax. ;)
Anyway we'll see you there.
