Day 4: 16/6/2012:
Streaky Bay
: We woke to calm and quiet waters, the sun was rising over the water and our neighbours were packing up and getting ready to move on. The pelicans and seagulls were up and about
Mr Percival and his mates
. After bacon and eggs for breakfast it was off to the hardware and supermarket to stock up as we need enough food til we stop at
Kalgoorlie
in 5 days. The days activities included several walks, one along the beach and around to the mangrove swamp and the other out to the end of the pier and around town.

The pelicans grew in numbers as the day went on, by dusk we had 20, they stayed around til late in the evening apparently the conditions were right for them to be gathering food. The cob was fired up as roast was on the menu for dinner, it was delicious. The Youngins that stayed the night before collected wood for a fire but didn’t light it, we moved the wood up the beach and had a small (very warm fire)
Janet enjoying the very warm fire
for an hour or so. An addition to the day befores ramblings, Tanya the lady from QLD liked a chat which included plenty of “AYES”. Marty I now believe you that all Queenslanders speak this way.
Day 5: 17/6/2012:
Eucla
: The
weather
during the day is getting warmer and the shorts (Darren’s Only) made an appearance.

Today was a long drive from
Streaky Bay
to
Eucla
. At the head of the
Great Australian Bight
is the whale observation centre, we were fortunate enough to see and photograph several adult whales with their calves.

From here we stopped off several times along the bite for more pictures and Janet wanting to get closer to the edge for a better picture.
Somewhere on the Great Australian Bite
Janet’s mission for the day was to see the
Nullarbor
wild life that everyone had spoken about and the signs were depicting, Camels, Wedge Tail Eagles & Emus, to her disgust there were none.

We crossed the border into WA without too many dramas (Only lost our unopened honey) and arrived at
Eucla
at 6.30pm S.A time. As we were only passing through our camp set up was basic, the cob was fired up as homemade pizza was our choice for dinner tonight, the pizza was magnificent. It was off to bed early as it was bloody freezing.
