On the Road to "No Where" and lovin it - Darren & Janet's Outback Adventure - half way to W.A

As I type this we are at day 4, camping at the Streaky bay caravan park, sun ablaze in the sky, gentle breeze, relaxing, surrounded by Seagulls (guess its the bird thing).

Day 1:Amazingly we left Home on Wednesday within 15mins of the time scheduled and Tom waved us off, it was 8.15 in the morning . Today was to be a long drive and we were hoping to get to Lake Cullulleraine before dark. We stopped at Whycheproof for lunch and checked out the birds they have in a cage at the park and some other monuments. Arriving at Lake Cullulleraine around 5pm the camp was set up and Janet headed off with camera in hand to get the sunset pics over the lake. It was bloody cold so all the Melbourne clothes including some were still required

Day 2: Our destination for today was Mt Remarkable national park, Mambray Creek (30Km North of Port Pirie). the trip took us through Renmark, (Chatted to Ian at Woolworths who was on his way to a Weimaraner dog show at Monash S.A) and Morgan as we followed the mighty Murray River which has plenty of water. Lunch was at Morgan watching the ferry carry cars and passengers back and forth across the river as the rain came down. In between showers we wandered around and checked out some of the historical stuff, the old Morgue was situated right next to the river. Heading from there we stopped at Port Pirie for a look and then off to our 5 star cabin at Mambray Creek. The cabin was basic, with toilets and showers close by but a bargain for $50. We cooked our Taco's for dinner, played scrabble on the I Pad, went looking for night time creatures (It was too cold and they were all hiding).

Day 3: We were up early (6.30am) for our Sunrise hike (for the hiking purists it was more like a walk but hike sounds better) on the loop track to Davey's Gully lookout. The views looking towards Port Pirie & Port Augusta were amazing, along the way we took pictures of Darren, birds and Kangaroos. Our destination for today was Streaky Bay Caravan Park via Port Augusta. We picked up our Deserts parks pass from DSE Port Augusta which allows us access to the Simpson Desert in about 6 weeks time. Iron Knob was our next stop hoping to do the mine tour, but the bus was in for a service today. The information centre was interesting and like something from the 70's, the golf course was "for sale" and looked like it needed some grass . We travelled onto Kimba (The geographical halfway point from eat to west of Australia) stopped for lunch at the local park and took some pictures of the sign and Janet with the big Galah .
The people that setup next to us at Streaky Bay are travelling from Mackay QLD to Perth for him to work on the HV electrical stuff to do with trains. We had a good old chat about everything and nothing. I purchased a couple of Frothy's from the local and they went down nicely, I don't feel to bad today, this relaxing stuff must be doing me some good.
