Well we made it to the top! I have not been able to put anything on my blog as we were out of range most of the time. It is strange that you can get phone reception but no internet.
On our way north we stopped three nights at Cooktown and then set off for our adventure as we were towing our van we did not intend to go OTL but had heard the road was in pretty bad condition from those who had returned. So we prepared our vans for the worst stuffing towels into the fridge and cupboards, ready for the corrugations. Our first night we stopped at Musgrave overnight for a well earned rest. The road was much better than we thought it would be - so far so good. The next day saw a late start as we put a support on the fridge door. Stopped at Coen for Lunch at Coen Beastro very nice. We headed off again the roads surprised us they were a lot better than we had expected. Stopped at Archer River Roadhouse for diesel and then stopped overnight at Moreton Telegraph Station. I loved all the dip signs that we passed on the next leg of our journey - skinny dip, double dip, French onion dip, dip it do dae etc they give you a laugh as you go along.
We stopped at Bramwell Junction and then headed to Elliot Falls had a lovely swim. We were told by another couple that Fruit Bat falls was better but we couldn't take our vans down that track.
On to the last day of our travels to the top - this part of the road was again a surprise to us after all we had heard before we knew it we were at the Jardine Ferry and over to Bamaga we stayed at Seisia for a week. Caught the ferry to TI and Horn Island stayed overnight and had a lovely swim bought a few things at TI and back to Seisia. We went to the top the nest day and climbed over the rocks to the very tip of Australia it was a great achievement for me.
Now we are on our return journey and staying at Weipa for a few days waiting for mail.
