Lovely to read your report Heather, it brings back memories of our trip there last year. The pink colour of the water at Rowles lagoon is I think due to a bacteria that grows in saline water. There are other
pink lakes around eg in western
Victoria. Have a great trip,
Val.

Thanks Val,
Yes we saw the
pink lakes in far west Vic when we came through to SA via Pinaroo a couple of years ago and wondered whether Rowles Lagoon was pink for the same reason. Whatever... it is very striking.

The trees with copper narrow coloured trunks growing in a cluster form are gimlet. The large trees with trunk colour varying from white through shades of pink are salmon gums.

Thanks Motherhen,
We found out this information a couple of days ago when we took a wander through the KarlKurla Parkland and read the small information plates provided. Both are beautiful trees.

I wonder where you might be now Heather. I was enjoying reading your travels particularly as my son and his family lived the past 8 years in
Kalgoorlie and have only just returned to live in
Perth. They lived in West Lamington and house backed on to Hammond Park, one of the
places you visited. Have you plans to visit
Esperance. This is a wonderful part of the world, not unlike Fowlers and
Streaky Bay in SA and the Cape legrande national Park is awesome and world class with great
camping facilities for people like you..
