Just when you are packing the camper...it doesn't just rain ...it pours

The Van is still in with Simon of the Caravan Doctor in Busselton getting its Fan-tastic fan fitted... so departure is delayed until Friday.
And just when I am looking to pack the Disco and van... the heavens decide to open up.
Now we are not talking a mere little drizzle.... mist like precipitation...but full on downpour- accompanied by storms and high winds. The ocean accross the road is very angry and temeratures have dropped.
Now why does this happen- just when you have something do outdoors?
Thank goodness all I have left to do is transfer clothing and food to the van when I pick it up, otherwise I will be more than water logged.

So Arrabella A'van and I hit the road tomorrow morning for the short jaunt to Perth (only 250 km's) and then on to warmer climes.
I am currently going over lists and making sure that everything is packed and ready to go... i am sure i will have forgotten something... so i will look at keeping a list for futrure reference.
Any suggestions welcome.

CAN YOU RECOMMEND A GERALDTON CARAVAN PARK?
Also can anyone recommend a caravan park in Geraldton...as the Disco has a date - complete with full service- on Monday... of course Monday is forecast for rain - surprise surprise - so I'd like to be tucked up in the van all warm and cosy with power?

Leonie - I don't have much time for Geraldton or any of the Caravan Parks there. I won't stay in Geraldton. Too many break-ins and thefts. Sadly, there's too many of the dark-skinned troublemakers in that town.
We stopped to use the public toilets on the beachfront in town, and 2 mins after my lady walked into the female toilets, a dark-skinned male walked OUT of them! He wasn't in there because he was lost, either.

We've stayed at the Dongara Tourist Park, and found it a lovely spot. Reasonably priced, right on the beach and Dongara is a much better town than Geraldton. Don't forget to stop at the famous Dongara bakery!

Here's a caravan park site with many reviews from people who have stayed at the listed parks. I find it pretty good reference.

Hit CTRL + F and type in the town name to go straight to the caravan parks listed for that town.

Also - be aware there's been quite a bit of rain in the Northern Wheatbelt, Murchison, and West Pilbara.
Karratha has had 37mm up to 9:00AM this morning and Roebourne has had 54mm. There's been a lot of isolated heavy falls.
I hope the rain has stopped by the time you get to Canarvon. We're leaving in the motorhome on the 28th June for Darwin, I'm looking forward to that day!

Cheers - Ron N.

Yeah Lee
I agree with Ron in that Geraldton is not as good as Port Dennison or Dongara safety wise(you know, the walks along the beach etc). Have rellies there and never had a need for a caravan park but have heard of many incidents. All the best with your travells. Hope the weather fines up for you.
Bye for now

Thanks Ron and Deb,
Unfortunately as I am servicing the car in Geraldton I'll need to stay at least one night in Geraldton. Would love to stay at Dongara/ Port Denison but I'll have to miss them this time.
As for the rain Ron... as long as the roads are open...and the rivers aren't flooding.. all should be good!
Thanks for the info = I'll file that away for future reference.

Hi Lee, I understand you will need a park close to Geraldton town centre where the disco gets serviced. I have no trouble with Geraldton, but as a rule I usually stay at the Drummond Cove Holiday Park about 10 k's north of the city after filling up at the 440 roadhouse and getting some hot chips (hmmmmmmm....yum), staying 1 night before heading north. However in our camper trailer days we used to stay in a motel which had parking at the rear for big boats and camper trailers etc because it too bl...y cold and Colleen loved the warm rooms and they have a restaurent serving good food. It was on the LHS as you came into the city on the Brand Hwy between Broadhead ave and Jarrah st ( opposite Sydney St)........ I think it called All Seasons Geraldton. But I have stayed at Geraldton and Caranarvon and had NO problems at all.
