AMO'S On tour DAY 45 30/8/11

DAY 45 finally on the Kakadu leg with Danny, Alison and Jo-Anne.
Do the Fogg dam, windows on the wetlands and Jabiru. Stay at the Kakadu lodge with good amenities and swimming pool. Decide swimming pools and caravan parks are good combination esp when
37 degrees and 90 pc humidity!! Ease the friends into camping slowly.

DAY 46 after a visit to Bowali information centre to pick up permits we decide on a Nourlangie morning of rock art and walking, swim and veg out then sunset at Ubirr rock. Fantastic , all the well known paintings, Lightning Man, and turtles, talks by park rangers, finishing up with the impressive sunset quite a thought provoking day.DAY 47 we've booked a 4.30 pm cruise with Yellow Waters on the wetland area so move to Cooinda, again caravan park with swimming pool, just as well, it was Super HOT and super HUMID! After we nearly pass out, go on cruise. Crocs everywhere, didn't see big 'Tippy' but many 2-3 metre ones. A Jabiru took a wrong step whilst eating a Long Tom and nearly became dinner himself. We all were glad when he escaped. Brolgas, look at me birds, lotus birds, jabirus, egrets, whistling ducks, rufus herons, whistling kites, both forest and azure kingfishers, flycatchers and 2 magnificent white bellied sea eagles all at close quarters.DAY. 48 pack up, were pretty good now with 3 extra helpers, 9.15 and on road!!! Head for Maguk, about a 1 km walk along a croc river, bit of scrambing over rocks and find the Maluk plunge pool and waterfall . Fish everywhere, barras, grunters, mangrove jacks, long toms, eels, catfish. Big barras too, with mask and snorkel got up close and personal.
Now we leave Kakadu heading for Broome.
