Gavern & Sue

Back To Index
There's something wrong. Everything falls in to place today. Apart from some heavy dew
we get packed up, don't get bogged driving out of the park and manage to finish a coffee
without getting harassed by the emus looking for food, just as the dolphins decide to
appear for a feed at Monkey Mia. It's the second feed for the day so the crowd is quite
small and we listen attentively as the ranger feeds us information about the dolphins.
I'm guessing that everyone else is the same as me waiting excitedly like a school child
for the moment when the buckets are bought down for the feeding. There are six dolphins and
I'm disappointed when a guy stands next to the dolphin closest to us. My disappointment
is for the fact that there are some scantily clad women in bikinis and I'm sure that
there must be some perks to the job and sure enough said scantily clad woman is chosen. As
the dolphin mearly plays with the fish his arm gets raised indicating to the dolphin that
there is only going to be one more fish offered. We had already been warned not to jump up
and down in a effort to be chosen and it took all my will power to not scream 'price is
right style' when he points to me to offer the last fish. Still can't work out why,
definitely no skimpy polka dot bikini, maybe the lily whites were too much for him to bear
looking at any longer. I don't care I'm in the water in a flash 6 inches away from a
dolphin who decides there's better things to do than be offered a fish. No matter
I'm on cloud nine and luckily floating as Gavern has taken my shoes while I go to the
ladies. On my return I head to where the car is parked only to discover an empty space. I
sit and wait for him to return while he sits and waits near where I would have walked out
from. Obviously we've missed each other in the process. Eventually I give up and walk
gingerly across the stones to the car. He got away with that one very unscathed.
We then head to Carnavon to get a new battery and find ourselves in an unpowered site at
Coral Bay due to the fact that people with children have taken an extended holiday after
Anzac day. Finally the long awaited shower. I jump in and the first thing I notice is how
much salt is coming out of my hair. Takes me a few minutes to realize that I'm washing
in bore water. Have I mentioned that I've got blonde hair?
No Desk, No Boss, No Stress. :)
