Gavern & Sue

Back To Index
Gavern is now covered in mosquito bites especially his forearms and being a bit of a sooky
la la he's complained all night. I suppose having a larger surface area particularly
around his middle there's more to bite. When we wake in the morning there that moment
where we both look at each other and simultaneously dive for the stop itch. We're like
two squabbling children fighting over a prized toy. 'I had it first' 'but I itch
more than you' 'you use that tube first and you'll live to regret it' Gavern
reluctantly lets go of the revered ointment and I sigh contentedly as I rub it in.
Eventually I can't stand the whimpering and hand it over. Problem is that it's
running out. I may need to take drastic measures to ensure my needs are met. Maybe I could
trip him over as we walk past a crocodile while exploring the Windjana gorge. I contemplate
this but decide that I still need him to drive, set up camp, cook, clean and generally tend
to my every need. I'll just resort to hiding the tube in different locations and then
accuse him of forgetting where he's left it. We meet Derek & Sue fellow travelers
from Warragul and in the course of our conversation they mention a travel guide by Birgit Bradike a German who relocated to Australia and has written a very practical guide to the
Kimberley's. Sue loans us the guide so we can read about Mornington wilderness camp
ground but it's so good I stay up reading most of it. I'd highly recommend looking
up her website if you are after information.
