One of those days - May 23

Gavern & Sue

Back To Index
During the night we awake to the sound of rustling and assume there's another mouse in
the tent. Gavern can't find anything and we eventually go back to sleep. Later I wake
suddenly to the sensation of something walking across my head. I've previously had
something big and hairy land on my hand during the night. Now before you go drawing the
wrong conclusions I did say big. It was a caterpillar. This time I jump up in fright and
throw the pillow across the tent. Gavern insists that a gust of wind blew into the tent just
as I reacted but I wasn't taking any chances. I retrieved the pillow and spent the rest
of the night with my head firmly planted under it. Nothing goes right during the day. When
we booked in yesterday I paid and was surprised at the amount. On checking I realize that
I've entered my pin number as a tip and when I discuss this with the staff, who inform
me that they are using a new system, they work it out too. I'm now going to have to
change the pin or cancel the card quick smart. I'm told that they can't reverse the
transaction until the morning as they need to ring Sydney for an authorization code. Seems
easy enough so I return in the morning to be told that I need to present a credit card as
they can't refund an eft pos transaction. Blow me down but the same thing happens with
the other card only this time I check before finalizing it. I'm starting to get pretty
wary and the girl places the machine in front of me so I can watch what's going on. 2
attempts later it's all fixed. We then decide to purchase some wi fi time and the same
young lady passes comment about my taped up glasses. We have a laugh and I then attempt to
access the Internet. I don't have any success so Gavern tries on his computer but is
prevented because I'm supposedly still logged on. After everything that's happened
the young lady gives us both access at no extra cost and we spend the next hour
unsuccessfully trying to make things work. I end up walking off in a huff deciding its best
to give up. We spend the afternoon reading and relaxing and after checking with someone that
the showers are warm we both head over. In our travels I've seen lots of things left
behind in shower cubicles and wonder how people could be so forgetful. Well now I know. In
my haste last night to get warm I'd left my soap and shampoo in the shower. A quick
check reveals they have not been left for me to find. So I traipse back to the camper in the
vain hope we have spares but end up sneaking into Gavern's cubicle to use his gear. He
thinks all his Christmases have come at once but I'm only after his wash bag and he gets
ejected fairly quickly.
