Gavern & Sue

Back To Index
We are up early for a 6.30 flight. Oh uh someone's being telling huge fibbies about how
much they weigh (refer to yesterdays entry) but we are able to take off so let's just
leave it at that. Our 2 hour flight takes in Mt Hann, king cascades, prince regent river, St
George, Mt Waterloo & trafalagar and finally the Mitchell falls. Thankfully the flight
is quite smooth as there at least 3 sick bags per seat that the pilot has specifically
pointed out. He's also requested that we try to aim into the inner bag if the need
arises. I'm glad we are not on the 9.30 flight as we get a taste of how rough it might
be as we come back in to land. Ben I can imagine you doing this job you'd be great at
it. We then head back to camp and pack up. As we leave Gavern asks the name of the property
to which I reply 'Drysdale' 'oh yeah like the horse' is his reply. Do you
know of a famous horse named Drysdale as I don't. After a moment he says 'oh i mean
Clysdale' Matt I think I can now confirm that his forgetfulness at work can be
attributed to Alzheimer's. You might need to start setting up the redundancy now!
Ever since someone mentioned 3 days ago, Gavern has been hanging out to have one of the
famous scones at Ellenbrae station. Other people might be excited about birds or gorges but
Gavern's main focus is food. I've had to carry a cloth to wipe the drool from his
face as he much be constantly thinking about them. There are signs along the 5 km track to
add to the anticipation. The station itself is well worth a visit, I could have sat there
all afternoon but would have run out of money feeding Gavern scones. It's ok mum, while
the scone was huge and nice to eat, they weren't as good as yours. (does that keep me in
the will?) We reluctantly leave and head to Home Valley station, taking in the magnificent
view of the Cockburn range in the late afternoon light. After a long day of driving it's
nice to finish with a refreshing shower but mine turns out to be just a bit too refreshing
as there's no hot water left. It's a teeth chattering experience.
No Desk, No Boss, No Stress. :)
