Gavern & Sue

Back To Index
We arrive early at Dales camp ground which is part of the Karajini
national park. Gavern in his wisdom ignores the sign that suggests
paying fees, deciding to set up and then pay. As we are driving around
the 170 odd sites available we see a gentleman on a bicycle riding
along. Being the friendly people that we are we wind the window down to
say hello. How were we to know that there are volunteers available to
organize a spot. As soon as we've driven past he's on his bike
tracking us down Steve Irwin style, with a smile but with that gritty
determination that this one isn't going to get away. We are ordered
back to pay and be allocated a site. Of course there is a penance to be
paid for this indiscretion, namely a site without shade. Some humble pie
is eaten and we smooth things over.
After setting up its time to check out Fortisque falls and fern pool.
We've timed it beautifully as a large group of teenagers on an
overseas visit are just exiting the fern pool. A very refreshing swim is
had and as we sit on the platform with our feet in the water, allowing
the fish to nibble at our feet a woman walks up and enquiries if we mind
that she strip off. I'm expecting that she's going to change
into her bathers but NO she takes off her clothes and gets in stark
naked. Gavern doesn't know where to appear to be looking, he
promises that he didn't see anything ( I might be blonde but I'm
not that dumb) im sure i heard an audible ' phoor' At this
stage I decide it's time to move on. I've got Gavern begging me
to stay and enjoy the 'scenery'. Fat chance that's going to
happen.
No Desk, No Boss, No Stress. :)

Hahaha - I'm surprised that Gaven didn't insist on staying! I've had a similar experience at the showers at Winjanna Gorge, it is a little awkward for sure - in a good sort of way hahaha
A new way of life is emerging.
