Hope we don't bungle this one - May 27

Who said the thermostat could be turned down overnight to 3 degrees. The only thing that
kept us warm was the doona which we kept trying to steal from each other. No guesses who won
that little battle. We head to the bus at 7am and meet our driver Radar. I'm sorry I
didn't take a photo as its an apt nickname, he has an uncanny resemblance to the MASH
character. It's a bumpy 2 hour trip from the caravan park for the 10 occupants of the
bus. We head first to picannini lookout and cathedral gorge which is breathtakingly
beautiful. After lunch we head to Echidna chasm and carefully negotiate the rocky path that
leads into the chasm. The walls really do close in on you. As we return home the driver
pulls in to a way side stop for a quick break that lasts 20 minutes longer as a warning
light appears on the dash. Gavern and I guiltily look at each other not daring to confess to
his 'sparky' reputation. Thankfully we don't need to be rescued as radioed
instructions allow us to return back with the warning light off. The owner isn't happy
as he now has to fly someone in from Darwin to reset the computer. Dinner and a camp fire
await us on our return and we weary explorers even make it past 9pm before heading to bed.
It's a tough life buts omeone needs to do it.
