Well there has been a lot of hours spent in preparation for this trip. Our first for 6 weeks. And venturing into the unknown for us means the hours of research has been worth it in my opinion. The things that I have had to consider are:
Car and Trailer insurance
Roadside Assistance
Bills/Mail for Home while away
Trip Plans, accommodation and sightseeing, events etc
Safety/Emergency plans
Purchasing of Camping Gear
Amuzements for the kids
Permits/Licenses(fishing etc)
Car/Trailer modifications
Lists, lists and more lists eg Food, Tools, Camp gear etc
Learning some extra photography tips
The one thing that I did do that is going to be one of the most interesting bit of planning and that is the list of estimations. It will be interesting to see the outcome of how far out we were.

3 Weeks to go and now we are counting down. I cant wait. I have already had a grandchild do a melt down on me. He's 5 years and just doesn't want me to go 'cos he'll miss me too much. I will find it difficult to go I know but I can do it.

The airconditioner on the Rodeo has broken down for the third time in about 6 months. Just about had it with the stupid thing. Wouldn't like to do the GRR without one that's for sure. So into the workshop it goes again.

The Rodeo has AT Bridgestone tyres, GME UHF CB radio with a heavy duty antennna, fitted tool box under tray, fitted 12vlt plugs to back for Evacool Fridge/Freezer which has been secured with High Tensile chains and bolted to tray of ute. Alot of rubber has been used to prevent wear and tear and noise. We have 3 jerry cans strapped down for diesel, 1 jerry for petrol(Tomahawk Generator), 3 jerries for drinking water and will be carrying food, porta-pot and camp chairs in the ute.

The camper trailer(CT) has 2 x 59lt water containers under carriage, 2 x sm gas bottles, 1 x deep cell battery, and will carry bedding, clothing, table, Cobb for cooking and utensils.

We have found out the recipe to prevent sandfly attacks(50:50 Baby Oil and dettol), and have a good medical supply for emergencies. You name it and we got it.

I have researched the towns and areas we will be travelling through for information on events, sightseeing opportunities, gemstones and cultural significants. I dont think I have left a stone unturned. Why, because I dont want to go all that distance and spend all that money only to find out I missed out on seeing or experience anything that I could have seen or done.

Well as I said 3 weeks to go and we're counting down. So bye for now

Hi Phil. Unfortunately the first night spent at Galena Bridge was a freezer and I came down with the flu which hubby was trying to get over after two weeks but it came back and bit him twice. We decided to move to the coast where it was warmer and stayed at Hamlin Pool for a couple of days to see if we improved but to no relief. Absolutely no energy to pack up camper so decided to head south to Kalbarri and into a motel for a couple of nights then the granddaughter came down with it and we had no steroids for her(after thinking if it was bad enough for me to take them we will definately them for her) so 1 day short of a week and we were home, warm, dry and comfy. Very disappointed but thankful for the comforts of home.

Further to post above: found out we had the swine flu and came home to 5 sick children(3 babies) and 4 sick adults that all needed the extra help and advice so probably just as well we came home. Took some great photos of Galena Bridge and have posted them on the Places tab for Galena Bridge have a look if you want.
