Hi Ron N Jane...I am doing the two-day event, which starts with a 3 klm run, into a 55 klm cycle, and then a 33 klm run up over the Southern Alps. Day two starts with a 15 klm cycle, 67 klm kayak, some of it in grade two white water, and finishes with a 70 klm cycle into Christchurch.
My usual thing is kayaking, although I used to compete in cycling many (many) years ago. And running, well not quite my thing, but I do a lot of pack walking, so I'm comfortable with it.
In terms of times, I'm aiming for the average of last years two day event, which was around 16 1/2 hours. But I guess to some extent it will depend on conditions. The mountain run is a bit of an unknown, and the kayak, well as long as I don't fall out should do reasoanbly well. I'm seeing this as a practice for the 2013 event!
