A nice and easy morning starting with bacon and eggs and then a walk to Stevie’s Pool and back to the thermal Spring for a dip. It is hard to imagine that this kept us going till about 11. We jumped in the car and drove to the township for fuel and whatever else was going – not a whole lot on a Saturday arvo.

We then decided to have a look at Bitter Springs.

The pool there was more picturesque as it seemed more natural and as day visitors it was an easy walk from the car park. However, from the van park it was well over a kilometre and I would say not an easy walk back. As a package I like where we are at the homestead as we have chosen to stay in the grassed area near the entrance. Probably a little nostalgic of us as this is also where we stayed on our Kimberley trip. We have power and very good water, the place has plenty of space and we don’t feel crowded at all.

Earlier in the day our neighbours showed us a snake that was curled up near a tree nearby and whilst I’m not certain it looked like a whip snake to me, it was skinny but quite long maybe several meters. Like yesterday we ended up feeding the wallabies and birds that visited us for a meal. We had a variety of birds including bower birds, fig birds and apostle birds eating our bread. Some whistling kites were happy to have our meat scraps.

Tried my luck at fishing at the river behind the park but apart of some interest from archer fish there was no barra meal today. Lis did one of Brian’s boned chickens in the weber baby Q she also did some potatoes at the same time. We ate well and enjoyed a relaxing evening, cleaning and packing for our departure tomorrow. I filled all the tanks as the water here was very good, it occurred to me that we had left home with an empty tank and when we had trouble switching to this tank without success we couldn’t understand what was wrong – now we know.
We have had access to satellite TV most of the time including here but the receiver is not pointing north anymore which is very confusing for us simpletons. It seems to be pointing ENE which is different to what I understood so when we park the van to optimise our chances of reception we had been looking for a clear northerly view but this is no longer true.

The C1 satellite is located at 156 degrees east, which is about over PNG so as you move west and north the direction from your location will change. This free program will give you the satellite direction from your location http://www.c-com.com.au/nomad.htm You can also get apps for your smart phone that will show where the sat is.

Thanks for that Rod and thanks for the link. It will make planning the van parking a little easier. Kind regards
