Hi Fred
Thanks for that and it is one location that holds me dearly. To think that in a few years time when things get back to normal this will all be memories as the dust rolls over the dry Cooper Creek bed.
Cheers

Yes, Stephen, Thankyou.
You have some good shots & although I've never lived on the Cooper, my grandparents did. It certainly looks better full and with the green grass.
Take care, safe travels. Ma.

Hi Ma
If you can get the time, it is well worth the time and effort to see the Cooper like it is. It would be great to get back there in retrace Grandparents footsteps.
All the very Best and thanks for the reply

Yes Stephen ,we did trace their footsteps as best we could some years ago no but we had hired a 4x4 for a certain time & had to get it back on time. The skies were promising to rain& we didn't want to get stuck so it was a very quick trip. I'm still trying to find out some more things about my Grandparents. As usual you find out to late, that you should've asked them.
I have conflicting stories but the were the Father & 3 kids. Nana called one of the boy's the same as the father so we get mixed up when doing research.
The Kidman records of that era were destroyed by fire. Nana & Grandpa worked for Syd Kidman.

Hi Dave
It was just unreal and we were so glad that we did the second flight well. The biggest change that we noticed from last year was the birdlife, there would have been thousands of birds out there on the Cooper.
Thanks for the reply and regards to Nora.

Hi Graham
It is the RV4 and it is the best tent that we have ever had and yes it is as good as they claim. 110mm of rain at Kindgscote in March and did not leak one drop of rain. Can highly recommend them.

Stephen and Fiona, a great read and some fantastic photography. Tantalising trip to think about and I will have to think about a canoe now, as well as everything else. Strange times when you can actually do a blog on kayaking in the Simpson.
(shaking head)
Keep well.

Hi Alan
The Cooper is a great spot and we were not the only people up there with Kayaks. To glide quietly through the water and to hear every bird noise and the other sounds of nature is fantastic and you would be surprised just how close you can get to a lot of the birdlife, a lot closer than a powered boat.
As for Kayaking in the Simpson we have never heard of anyone doing it before so it could be another first for EO members to read about.
Thanks for your reply.
Cheers

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for your wonderful blog, as usual full of beautiful word and photographic pictures. And thank you for talking us into getting out there on the Cooper. We would love to have spent more than two and a half weeks in total but we really had to get back. Although it will be too hot for us to get there again after return from Europe, wet or dry the whole area is high on the list for a return visit. Still so much to see and both of us just love that red earth, big sky and marvellous landforms.
Cheers,
Min

Hi Stephen & Fiona,
BUGGER!
You have just reminded me of this time last year after doing the Anne Beadell with you guys and then continueing on to the Cooper doing exactly what you have just described.
Kayaking, helo flight, boat tour but the only thing I couldn't do was to cross the Cooper on the ferry as we were rained in and the roads were closed each side so had to sit it out and get out when the ferry operators changed over with their permission to follow them and to get out while we could even though the roads were closed as it would be some days before they would open again.
Good to see you guys are getting out and about and enjoying it.
Cheers
Stewart

When we were there we thought of the time that you were caught out there. It is a top spot but no fun when wet as you are well aware of. Hope you are keeping fit and well.
