Hi Stephen,
Great blog used to spend a lot of time there in my younger days (long time ago) looks like things have changed a fair bit must visit again.
Clare seems close enough to a lot of nice places and far enough from the city, but the Winters are too cold for me.. lol.
Cheers
Graham

Hi Graham
Thanks for that. Things have sure changed over there, that is for sure. The biggest outcry years ago was when they made the bottom section of the Caravan Park at Port Hughes into the boat and trailer car park. We spent some great times staying over there before the changes. It seems like a hundred years ago now, but under the Port Hughes Jetty was were I learnt how to scuba dive, with my greatest fear of meeting a shark.
When you are brought up in a place like Clare, for me the winters are not cold, we just put another piece of wood on the slow combustion heater. Like you say we are close to everything, the same time to get over to Morgan in the Riverland and a little longer to get to Adelaide. For me Clare is a great place to live and to have brought up our children in a great country town.
Cheers
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
We spent a few days at Mootna several years ago and found it a rather interesting place. Really enjoyed the historical displays and the fact that you could just wander amongst them. Probably has one of the best Museum displays in Australia in the old school house, really worth while to visit.
A good read Stephen, and reminds me it is a place to return to.
Regards Mike.

Hi Michael
Thanks for that. Great to know that you enjoyed the area and I can recommend it to anyone that like mining history. Another great area also for mining history is another town less than 1/2 hour from Clare,.... Burra, but that will have to be another Blog.
Cheers
Stephen
