end of another long day
Well, after 4 months of working fulltime on Hillside Station, we sadly had to leave.Jodie and i both shed some tears as we left, but we have made some friends for life, and have many fond memories of our time there, until we return again one day(which we will). Our last month of being at the station, was very hectic meeting deadlines for boats going overseas with livestock.
Most of our last month there was out at stock camp, where we were tested with some very extreme weather conditions. Since we dont have the camper any more, Jodie and myself opted for an Oztrail " Mitchell" double dome swag, and I can recommend one of these to anyone. It withstood willy willys, torrential rain, and days on end of strong winds. The only thing that happened to it was that the canvas had faded a little bit, but that could be expected with days & days of 42 degs and stong sun rays beating down. One of our last musters saw Jodie and myself drive the mustering buggy for 9 klm, with 3 flat tyres, and no clutch. i was quite determined to get the mob back safely to those yards!!! We had a total of 8 flats that day, because of the burnt out terrain. We are currently resting up now in beautiful Exmouth, at a van park and will head down the Cape tomorrow for a few days camping along the great beaches. It was great to finally get to see and smell salt water again, after 4 months inland. After here we head sth to Perth to see some friends, then head towards Esperance to do the Mt Ragged 4wd trail. Take care again to all and will see you on the road.
