I think it's been 3 weeks, since our last update. Wow how time flies!! We spent a week in the van park at Laverton, to firstly get our bearings of the place, where the owner of the park Rosie, was a terrific host. Very friendly, and nothing was a problem for her. she has just opened a new cafe at the park, and will also soon have internet acess as well.
We ended up spending the next two weeks camped out of town, and it was only a short drive to get some water supplies and top on groceries as well.(they can be a tad dear at times out here too!) The harsh reality of the goldfields of WA was shown to us after spotting some of the marked and unmarked graves in the bush while out detecting. Just recently we found an unmarked grave and also a dogs grave from previous 1080 baits.Our weather has been terrific so far, with most temps being around the mid to high twenties and glorious sunny days.We have been very lucky with our prospecting and have averaged an ounce a week, which will help pay the diesel bill now!! We've heard the price has been creeping up since we
last filled up.
We have been collecting info and details on the gold areas we visit, as we may put a book or CD out about where we have found gold in the future. I used to write for Gold Gem and Treasure magazine, some years back and enjoyed sharing info on our travels. From here we will head to Leonora, and settle in for a couple of weeks detecting there and then its over to the coast for some fishing and some well earned R&R. We tried a new dessert recipe tonight, bananas, stuffed with marshmellows and chocolate, then wrapped in foil and on the hot coals for 10 mins. MMMM yummo.With a dash of cream on top too.!!!
