The Red Bluff Experience...

Hi again all,
well after
monkey Mia
, it was further Nth to to
Carnarvon
, where we spent 2 nights to catch up with some washing and chores etc . We did a spot of
fishing
from the now half mile jetty, after some damage by vandals in the way of fire, this meant that we couldn't get out to the end of it where the best
fishing
would be with the deeper water!!
Carnarvon
had some great fresh produce and fruit, especially their mangoes!! Yum. Our next port of call was the one we had both been waiting for the whole trip, and that was
Red Bluff
. about 130 k's nth of
Carnarvon
, along some good dirt road, the week we spent there was just amazing and very very relaxing. As usual Jodie outfished me again, with a nice Trevally, and some good sized
Tailor
. The first morning of
fishing
the rocks there, I put 2 big poppers into the water and lost both of them to Big Giant Trevally (GT's). I'd hadnt prepared enough for the
fishing
side of things, and was left without wire traces, enough lures and not enough shark hooks.
We lost 3 sharks one morning, but the fun of nearly being spooled by them was just great. Plenty of big and small bronze whalers off the rocks and also right infront of our fantastic campsite right on the beach front. One morning we had a 4 ft shark free jumping and spinning through the air, while we sat and had coffee at the campsite!!
We took a look around th whole area at
Red bluff
, and checked out the little
shop
, which has some basic supplies, and does the best and biggest mango & banana smoothies in the world!! The toilets there can be a little "airy" at times as they are only made of palm leaves, and no doors!!, as I discovered one morning when an older lady came up from her camp to do the morning business and walked in on me. i don't know who was more embarassed her or me!!
the staff who manage the place are very friendly and helpful, and very laid back, after all, it is just paradise out there. One morning we took a drive up to Gnarloo station and bay, to do some
snorkelling
, and had a look around. it si well set up for mainly fisherman, with onsite cabins, and a beach launching facility not too far away. Judging by the amount of trailers at the beach, i'd say it's very good
fishing
outside too. We had plenty of big schools of baitfish, just offshore afew hundred mtrs, being busted apart by big mack Tuna most days as well. One of the local guys goes out
fishing
one after noon, and dropped some fresh fillets of mack tuna to us right on tea time, so that was a real treat too.
We also had a look at the 3 mile camp area, which was great, although it could get very windy on some days being perched up a bit higher than
Red Bluff
. I think
Red Bluff
was more protected than all the other camps personally. Very well sheltered along most of the sites, as well as some nice shady campsites too. We enjoyed it so much we may call back in later on, depending on our plans. At this stage we may head back down the
WA coast
to call into all the spots we havn't yet seen on the way up, and leave the NT and Qld for another date. Anyway we are here for a night in
Tom Price
now then, over to
Marble Bar
area, after we head thru Karajini Nat park. Take care to all unc & jodie.

Great story, I had to laugh at the toilet, we camped at Ellenbrae station on the GRR last year and thought that the facilities there early 20th century but I think that yours beats it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like you guys are having a lot of fun and hasn't WA got some lovely spots?????????
Enjoy the rest of your trip
