Hi John and Val
Sounds like you had a ball over in the UK. I will not let Fiona have a read, or else she will definitely want to go there, as she always hints that is where she would like to go.....need lots more pennies for that trip...LOL
Cheers
Stephen

Hi Stephen AND FIONA, (who surely will have read this by now!)
Yes we had a great time over there, and managed to fit a lot in, but for all that we barely scratched the surface even of the places we went to. It took a while to comprehend just how much history there is over there.
We were lucky that the $A was high when we did most of our bookings, but yes we will need to start planning if we want to go back again.
Cheers,
Val.

Hi Val,
Another great blog, as usual. I note the last few words of your response to Stephen. The world is a wonderful place and opens up all kinds of opportunities to increase our understanding of people, both living and from the past. I think that the desire to see places other than our own little patch, whether it be within our own country or further afield is a great gift and I intend to keep going as long as the body and the purse allows it!
Cheers,
Min

Hi Min,
Yes seeing new places, meeting new people, learning new things all helps to put the world we live in into perspective. I think the trick is to try to understand and experience what we see rather than just have a fleeting look - unfortunately much of what we saw in England was in the "quick look" category. We have tended to want to see our own country first, but this latest trip has forced us to rethink that a bit. So much to see and soo little time!
Cheers,
Val

Thanks Brian, I suspect that many of us really take where we were born or live a bit for granted and dont get to know the area too well. Plus now we have Google to help us get the info quickly.
