Goog's Track
Submitted: Friday, Aug 15, 2008 at 00:00
We recently (Aug 2008) completed our second trip on Goog’s Track, leaving
Adelaide
on Friday 15th August. Our first port of call was Glendambo, one night then through
Kingoonya
and
Tarcoola
to spend our first night at Mt Finke. We spent 2 nights here to enjoy the environment, walking, bird watching etc. (Yeah I know, need more than 2 days/nights!!)

Yep, going north to south as SWMBO and I did it south to north last year and the approaches from the south (as others have commented) are all rutted out, and we all know why. Time NPWS had a good look at this.
This year was a lot wetter and cooler than last year. Lots of wild flowers and bird life. The approaches were better and the drop off sides were slightly rutted, but I guess the rain had packed them, so they were not as deep as last year.
Then to Googs Lake for two nights. A good look around here and apart from checking the Lake area out went Nalara Rock. Also saw Childara Rockhole which I know is on Everard Station (Ph 08 8648 1884) and you do need permission to go here. Getting permission was not an issue and well worth the trip.

Oh yes we used the West Print Map that we purchased from EO of this track. Have also checked EO site for relevant information. Found the map useful to ensure that we did not miss any of the sights.
Located Rock holes and Black Oaks track is closed.

Spent a night in Ceduna at the Ceduna C/Van Pk in a cabin to smarten up and keep the girls happy after 4 nights without a shower and heading off to Acraman’s Creek. It rained overnight and the forecast was for strong winds and showers, so whilst we went to Acraman’s, we did not camp here.
Then to
Streaky Bay
C/V Park and cabin stay for a couple of nights (to keep who happy?) and a feed or two of fresh oysters and a wine or two/three oh well may be more. Boy they are good.
We then headed to Pildappa Rock, spending a night here. This is a must see, there were plenty of flowers and bird life. Lots of water on top of the rock.

On the way to
Wudinna
, came across another good spot to camp, Tcharkuldu Hill, another top
camping
spot for the next trip.

Then on to Wudina area, see a few of the rocks and last night at the C/Van park before we head off home.
The
weather
for the trip ranged from day time 15 to low 20s and over night down to minus 1. But generally fantastic.
Will post fuel consumption some time soon.
