Took the family down to Tathra for the Anzac weekend.

Left early on Anzac Day and had lunch in cafe in Cooma, then down the mountain to Bega and out to Tathra. Stayed in a 2 bed apartment just back from the beach (Sapphire Court Holiday Units for $80/night thanks to Wotif...)

My country kids just love the sand so spent the afternoon on the beach then walked up to the Pub for tea. Two-Up was still happening (good education for Mr 8 and Miss 5) and the counter meals were enormous! Free courtesy bus home was a winner!

Drive down to Mogareeka Inlet in the morning for a look around, then back to Tathra and spent rest of Saturday on the beach in front of the Surf Club. Give a kid a spade and they'll be happy for hours! Tathra seems a bit less developed than most of the South Coast. In fact I spoke to 3 locals over the weekend and after telling them how much we liked the place, they all said the same thing "DON'T TELL ANYONE!"

Sunday Mass in the cute little Church; Father Mick was wonderful to the kids. Out to the wharf to watch the fishing. Blokes pulling in salmon and tailor one after the other. Interesting museum above the cafe on the wharf.

Morning tea in beautiful park near the boat ramp at Kianinny Bay and kick the footy with Mr 8. Then we had to head for home after lunch stop in Bega.

Weather was closing in by the time we reached Cooma and at Adaminaby it was snowing. Full on blizzard across the Ranges with heavy snow all the way to the Yarrangobilly Caves turnoff. We took the new Mazda CX-9 for a run and left the Patrol in the garage. It was a slow old trip across Kiandra but the kids loved it!

By the time we reached Tumut it was still raining heavily and I had bad Highway-itis so we hit the little Chinese restaurant in the main street and it was a terrific end to a very restful few days..
