Members International Trip to Russia 2009

Dear friends preparations the 2009 EO Members trip to Russia trip continues. The four members of our party have nearly had all their injections, passports updated and a batch of passport sized photos prepared for the visas required. Visas are rather complicated for this trip as we will be visiting a number of countries that actually need to invite you before the local embassy or consulate will issue a visa.

We have engaged the services of a travel firm in Kazahkstan to arrange our letters of invitation (LOI) to Russia, Kazakhstan, Tadjikistan and Uzbekistan. We will also be visiting South Korea and Mongolia. Here is a map showing our proposed journey.

We have chosen to start our expedition in South Korea as this is the easiest way of transporting our vehicles into Russia. The two Land Cruisers will leave Sydney in one shipping container in early April. In early May we will fly to Seoul, South Korea and take delivery of the vehicles in Pusan at the southern end of the peninsular, then drive north. From South Korea we take an ocean going ferry, north over the Sea of Japan, to Vladivostok in Russia. This is where the real adventure starts.
