Recently did this trip, in a day, towing C/t with Jackaroo. First 30 k is sealed, then becomes gravel but in pretty good nick. The scenery is good, evidence of bushfires
in 03 still obvious but regenerating ok. We looked at the several campsites between
Jindabyne & Mckillops Bridge & found none of them to be too exciting. The rivers
are choked with Blackberries & access almost impossible. we had intended to hole up at a nice quiet spot for 2/3 days. The quiet was fine but no site said "stay here".
No campers anywhere except a few at Willis on the border. The camp at Mckilops
Bridge is nowhere near the bridge, far from the water, & although it could accomodate
many was deserted. The drive itself is very scenic with lovely river views in some places. The driver will not see much as most of it south of Suggan Buggan to the
bridge is very narrow with countless blind bends & limited passing places. But for all
that it is still worth doing. Surface was generally good & no problems with towing C/t,
2 wheel drive is fine, but I wouldnt take a caravan there.
