Rudall River National Park
4-5 July 2009

This video was shot on the 4th and 5th July, 2009 as we entered the remote Rudall River National Park from the west via Christie Crossing on the Oakover River. It had been my ambition to climb the rock but common sense (fear!) had overcome me on the previous occasions. It was a gloomy day when we arrived but undeterred, we sought a route and managed to clamber up the steep walls to the peak. Another ambition achieved.

The next day we spent the morning searching for the approximately marked Hanging Rock Native Well. With none of the original custodians of the land relying on these ephemeral water supplies in modern times, they soon fill in with sand and are lost. We searched in grid patterns expanding out from the last recorded position finally finding an area we believe fitted the description. It was some several hundred metres to the south west but digging into the damp depression revealed very damp earth. The conditions were right and nothing else of a similar ilk revealed itself so we’re counting our search as a success.

My second effort at Video editing so apologies for the lack of finesse.

Mick

Mick O...I did so enjoy that. There is something about that country that can attract, and hold you. To achieve it, and record it, is memorable....10 out of 10.
