Flinders Ranges
The Flinders Ranges is semi-arid, harsh yet beautiful. There are many unique features here including gorges, ramparts and dry creekbeds.This is the region that Hans Heysen loved to paint and is a popular part of the Australian outback.
Canning Stock Route
The Canning Stock Route is a long-distance remote stretch of track through the Gibson and Great Sandy Deserts. No longer in use as a stock route this is now a vehicular track allowing access to the wells constructed as stock watering holes.
Great Central Road
Part of the "Outback Way", the Great Central Road is the main thoroughfare through Central Australia and links WA to NT. It is widely used by buses, trucks, 4WD and occasionally 2WD vehicles.
Drouin to Woods Point
This is a great day/weekend trip close to Melbourne that is both easy and interesting. Suitable for small 4WDs but worthwhile for experienced offroaders too with plenty to see and do for all the family.
Gawler Ranges
This rarely used route is a great alternative to crossing the Eyre Highway from Ceduna through to Port Augusta. Passing through the ranges and saltbush country there is the option to head further north to Kingoonya & onto Coober Pedy.
Stockton Beach
Stockton beach is the 4WD and dune buggy playground. Just 2 hours north of Sydney via the freeway, this huge expanse of sand dune area is open for camping and frolicking. Some say the dunes are higher than in the Simpson Desert!
Wollemi National Park
Less than 100kms from Sydney, the Wollemi National Park is a great weekend destination. Fantastic camping and walking opportunities in NSW's largest wilderness area.
Gunbarrel Highway
The Gunbarrel Hwy is one of Australia's most famous roads being the first of many desert tracks built by surveyor Len Beadell. Today, this track remains isolated and remote - for experienced desert travellers only.
Abercrombie River NP
This trek is located in the Central Tablelands region of New South Wales and offers the visitor some moderate four-wheel driving, and picturesque camping sites beside the Abercrombie River and Silent Creek.
