Edition 265: 5th July 2012
Hi ExplorOz Reader,
Discover the Goldfields of WABusiness Member Advertorial
 | The Western Australian Golfields have numerous self-drive adventure
tracks and trails that give travellers a true adventure into the outback
of WA.The Canning Stock Route, Gunbarrel Hwy and Great Central Road, or
as its more recently known as, The Outback Way | (Australia’s Longest
Shortcut) are gateways into the Goldfields region from the North and
East of Australia.
And don't forget the region's iconic attractions, such as the eerie statues at Lake Ballard via Menzies, where English Sculptor, Antony Gormley, placed 51 metal sculptures of the residents of the Menzies community in a remote salt lake setting to create Australia’s largest outdoor art gallery!
For more information on travelling to the region visit www.goldfieldstourism.com.au
Upgraded Road Conditions Section
Months of work behind the scenes has recently resulted in a new format to our road conditions report. You’ll notice the home page now lists all closed roads, plus you can access a National Road Map which provides status at a glance. Unfortunately, until our upgrade is complete, not all roads that appear in the text reports can appear on the mapped report. This is a huge task in progress - to find out more please read Michelle’s blog.
The new upgrade features some big improvements. The new search tool is fantastic – finding track reports for a known road by name or region is now super-fast and easy. Plus, anyone can enter first-hand experiences as a Traveller’s Comment. Simply go to the Roads Home Page, and browse for the existing road section to post your update. No other report in Australia can be edited live by the public, so this is your chance to really make a difference and improve the information flow!
