Ford across East Alligator River where dangerous salt water crocodiles may be seen close - up or more safely from the track of the Manngarre Walk through a monsoon vine forest.
Ubirr Rock

Ubirr Rock is a very scenic place and is located in the East Alligator region of Kakadu National Park. It consists of a group of rock outcrops on the edge of the Nadab floodplain where there are several natural shelters that have a collection of Aboriginal rock paintings, some of which are over 20,000 years old.

Groups of Aboriginal people camped in rock shelters around Ubirr to take advantage of the enormous variety of foods available from the East Alligator River, the Nadab floodplain, the woodlands, and the surrounding stone country. The rock overhang of the main gallery provided an area where a family could set up camp.

Ubirr is one of Kakadu National Park’s two most famous Aboriginal rock art galleries. The galleries can be viewed by following an easy one kilometre circular walking track. During the dry season Park Rangers give free scheduled talks about the ancient rock art.
