 Description of Black Springs

This small and tidy village is about 24 kilometres southwest from Oberon on the Abercrombie Road. It features an old historic cemetery, a community hall and the old stone-built Avoca Catholic Church and Shrine which is set in a beautiful location south of the village.

There is a shop which has a good range of supplies and petrol and is located opposite the Forestry Reserve camping area which has water, toilets and fireplaces. There is a Visitor Information Centre which is the contact point should anyone wish to use the village facilities.

Recreational amenities include tennis courts, recreational grounds, mushroom picking in the forest (when in season), trout fishing and fossicking at Sapphire Bend which is off Riverview Rd in Vulcan State Forest.
