 Description of The Twins

The true name for these two hills is Poodinitterra Hill and Crocker Hill. The first white man to discover the twins was a South Australian surveyor by the name of Theodore Earnest Day. He erected a small stone cairn on Poodinitterra Hill in 1916. The next important Explorer to visit them was Dr Cecil Madigan in his 1939 crossing of the Simpson Desert. Madigan's Camp 2 is also located in this area and a second stone cairn was erected by Reg Sprigg in 1962 in recognition on Madigans Expedition of the Simpson. Today it is important stepping off point for remote Simpson Desert Trips.
