Description of Rainbow Beach
Rainbow Beach is a vibrant
young town that is and is located approximately 265Km north of
Brisbane, 76Km east of Gympie and 700 Metres west of
Fraser Island on the
Cooloola Coast,
Queensland.
Rainbow Beach has the shortest
barge access to World Heritage
Fraser Island.
The beach has a relaxed atmosphere and has only been easily accessible since the early 1970's. Now, it’s a very popular spot for holiday makers, particularly four wheel drive enthusiasts, hang-gliders and backpackers. It’s said that 74 different shades of coloured sand can be found on
Rainbow Beach.
