After coming down from the rocky path from St Mary Peak, this is the last of the rock terrain to be covered, and from here on, it is back on to a wide, well worn walking trail.

While hiking through this section of the Flinders Ranges National Park, this is the only place where you are able to bush camp. Open fires are not permitted.

At this point the Heyson Trail track leaves the main path. Those that are hiking to St Mary Peak continue on the formed walking path.
