 Description of Lake Mungo

Lake Mungo was the site where the remains of what became known as Mungo Man – the oldest human found in Australia and Mungo Lady, the oldest person in the world to be ritually cremated. Lake Mungo is a dry lake located in south-western NSW, about 740 km due west of Sydney and 90 km north-east of Mildura. It is the central feature of Mungo National Park, and is one of seventeen lakes in the World Heritage listed Willandra Lakes Region.
