 Description of Nyabing
Nyabing lies within the Shire of Kent, which produces wheat, canola, and barley which is evidenced by the enormous grain silos seen when first entering Nyabing.

The first white men to visit the area were sandalwood cutters with the first lease of 2000 acres being taken around Cairlocup Lagoon by John Hassell in 1873 but the town wasn't gazzetted as Nyabing until December 24, 1912 after a name change from Nampup, when the Katanning railway line was extended to reach the area.

The region still contains many old buildings, halls and school sidings and many farming families of the district are ancestors of original settlers. In fact, situated in Memorial Park in the main street of Nyabing is the Grader Monument, which was the first horse-drawn grader used in the area - originally purchased in 1923.
