It’s an amazing coincidence that the moment the remote
Puntawarri briefly touches the
Tropic of Capricorn, there is a grove of Blackboy trees to greet you. The section of the track that kisses the tropic parallels the swale of two dunes for a stretch of a kilometre or so before slowly heading to the south west again and away from the Tropic. The Xanthorrhoea grove only lasts for this period of time. It is the only time that the Grass trees are visible along the
Puntawarri. The Tropic is not crossed again until on the main road running between Robertson Range
Ruins and
Jigalong approximately 11 km south of
the settlement.
